The Institut National du Patrimoine welcomes international professionals and students in Cultural Heritage.

The INP is an institute of higher education under the auspices of the French Ministry of Culture and Communication. Its mission is to provide training to heritage curators for State civil service, local government civil service authorities and City of Paris. Another mission of the institute is to train conservators-restorers authorized to work on public collections. Training for these two closely related and complementary professions within the same establishment is unique in Europe.

The application to the department leads to a training program in French, included in the 5 years-program of the students (Master Degree’s) straight into 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year based on the admission process detailing their experience and motivation. A degree or equivalent in the field of conservation-restoration is recommended including a practical experience.

International students in conservation-restoration can join the initial training for free from 2 to 12 months. Thus authorizing students benefitting from the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education, to follow full-term or parts of the training program (1 to 2 semesters).

Practicing heritage professionals can, under certain conditions, receive financial support during their stay in France by obtaining a grant provided by the programme « Profession Culture » offered through the French Ministry of Culture. Applications must be addressed before 22th May 2017.
