EMERGENCE LAB 2015

May 28, 2015 | By francecanadaculture Canada

In support of a market and a sector in constant change—the audiovisual world in the digital era—the Embassy of France in Canada, the Institut Français and the Banff Centre, with the support of the Canada Media Fund and On Screen Manitoba, have developed and launched Emergence Lab, the first Franco- Canadian laboratory dedicated to emerging and innovative forms of storytelling for new platforms. The second edition of Emergence Lab will take place June 1st to 5th, 2015, at the Banff Centre, an exceptional setting, in the Canadian Rockies. This 5 days long lab brings together eight participants and five mentors that will work together on two digital and multiplatform projects.

Emergence Lab is a creative space where experienced traditional authors can combine their expertise with that of new professionals in the world of interactive multi-platform writing in order to explore new forms of storytelling and new savoir-faire.

It is a free space where participants and mentors can explore new ways of looking at their fields and how they interact.

The residence is also an opportunity to work with the participants, mentors, and expert committee to create collaborative tools (case studies, mentorship, expertise-sharing, production tools, glossaries, etc.) that will then be passed on into the professional sphere by Lab participants.

In a bilateral context with great promise and great demand, Emergence lab is an invaluably free space for industry professionals and talent to meet and learn to collaborate.
