Vintage year for French cinema

October 17, 2014 | By francecanadaculture Ottawa

Thanks to the success of "Lucy", Luc Besson's movie that collected $400 millions in the world wide box office (38.5 millions of viewers) and "Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu" - Serial (Bad) Weddings) - (4.9 millions of viewers abroad, half of whom in Germany). 2014 should be an excellent year for French cinema. After 2013 below-average-performance (51 millions of admissions), UniFrance reckons on 90 millions of admissions in the world, which make this year better than the average (70 millions), even if it is still below the record of 2012 (142 millions of admissions).

The other French films that worked well out of our borders are this year are "Beauty and the Beast" (3 millions of admissions), "Grace de Monaco (2.4 millions) and "Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants" (2 millions).
