From November 2-8, 2017, Canada welcomes the world as Vancouver hosts the ISCM World New Music Days 2017.

Since its founding in 1922, the International Society for Contemporary Music has been the world’s premier network for new music. Each year, its festival is hosted in a different city around the globe.

In 2017, the Canadian League of Composers and Music on Main welcome nearly 50 countries for a festival of new music and a celebration of new ideas, new collaborations, and new fusions.

Futurs composés is the French Section of the ISCM. The board has selected Japanese-French composer Sanae Ishida after the call for works launched for the next ISCM - World Music Days. She’ll be part of the event WolfGANG on November 3.

 

Sanae Ishida

Sanae Ishida was born in Nagasaki. In 2002, she studied the composition at the Tokyo University of the Arts and in 2007, graduated in composition at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique.She received a scholarship for the season 2006/07 by the Agency of the cultural affairs of Japan. She was selected as a composer in residence with the Linea ensemble in 2008 and also was invited as a guest composer to the Atlas Akademy organized by the Atlas ensemble in Amsterdam in 2009. In 2015, she was awarded the André Jolivet composition Award.Her works have been performed by Soloists of Ensemble Intercontemporain, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Accroche Note, Linea, Atlas, Le Balcon, Orchestre national de Lorraine etc.

Mixing contemporary and indie classical, this popular collective of musicians from Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra pushes classical music right out of its comfort zone. This concert features spectacular players from across Canada playing fantastic music from across the world. On November 3 at 12pm
