Gesaffelstein, pen name Mike Levy, was born in 1985 and grew up in Lyon. In July 2012, he was on the cover of the magazine DJ MagBrodinski; in the same month, Les Inrocks referred him to "new prince of the french techno music" and he announced that he will work on his own first album, forecast for 2013. Still in 2012, his song Viol was featured for the Citroen DS4 television campaign, and for the Givenchy lipstick one. In the end of this year, he appeared again on the cover of the magazine Tsugi.

In 2013, he contributed to the production of the song Send It Up, from Kanye West's Yeezus album, and of the song Black Skinhead, with daft Punk and Brodinski. He released his first album Aleph in october of the same year.

Also well-known for his numerous remixes, gesaffelsteiin announced that from now on he wished to devote all his time to the creation of his own songs. In october 2013, he received four "UK Music Video Awards" nominations, and won two awards for his title Pursuit.
