The exhibtion « Actrices », wich consists of 25 portraits of French actresses will be open to the public from September 1 to October 26 at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

 

“Portraits of Actresses by Kate Barry”, produced by Institut français in cooperation with Roman de Kermadec, curated by Aline Arlettaz. With the support of the Embassy of France in Canada.
 
After its launch at the Rome Film Festival, its presentation in Florence, Taipei and Kaohsiung, the exhibition “Actresses” will be at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
 
The exhibition consists of twenty-five portraits of French actresses, from the most famous ones to the artists of the younger generation. These photos by Kate Barry with their indefinable, silent and melancholic tone, are also a tribute to their author, prematurely passed away in December 2013.
 
Kate Barry, daughter of the actress and singer Jane Birkin and the composer John Barry, started her photography career at age 28, in 1996. She exhibited her work in Italy in 2006 and in Tokyo at the Mori Art Museum in 2010.
