visual arts / Visual arts, Architecture & Design / WHISTLER : Matisse Drawings @ Audain Art Museum

"I have always considered drawing not as an exercise of particular dexterity… but as a means deliberately simplified so as to give simplicity and spontaneity to the expression, which should speak without clumsiness, directly to the mind of the spectator." - Henri Matisse.

The Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation Collection brings drawings of Matisse to the remarkable Audain Art Museum in Whistler for an important international exhibition.

The exhibition features 45 drawings by French master draftman Henri Matisse spanning nearly five decades along with nine lithographs by accomplished American painter and printmaker Ellsworth Kelly – the curator of Matisse Drawings.
