The latest comedy from the directors of The Intouchables, C’est la vie! tracks a wedding day from the point of view of the caterer, Max (Jean-Pierre Bacri). This is to be a grand affair, at an ancient chateau. But Max’s team is falling apart. Jealousy, laziness, incompetence, food poisoning and an insufferably arrogant bridegroom all contribute to what will be a night to remember…
“This is an expertly assembled, tartly played and hugely enjoyable romp… Like expert jugglers at a slapstick circus, the directors keep most of the characters and their faults and needs neatly in the air, with the rhythm hardly flagging and the tone buzzy and bustling throughout…[the film] offers carefully crafted character comedy, some hilarious slapstick and a cute love story or two as well as a few solid musical moments.” Boyd van Hoeij, Hollywood Reporter
“A broad delight… co-directors and screenwriters Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache pull another magical trick out of the hat with a ruthlessly-plotted breeze of ensemble good humour,” Finn Halligan, Screen International
