In June 2019, PhD student Madison Bolger-Munro received a Friedman Award for Scholars in Health, a very prestigious award from the UBC Faculty of Graduate Studies that will support her spending 8 months in Ana-Maria Lennon-Dumenil’s lab at the Institut Curie.
Under the mentorship of Dr. Ana-Maria Lennon-Duménil, Mrs. Bolger-Munro will study the contribution of mechanical cues at the immune synapse to the B lymphocyte (a type of white blood cell) immune response. The aim of her research is to provide new insights into the fundamental principles of immune cell activation and help inform the development of novel vaccines and therapeutic approaches.
The Friedman Award for Scholars in Health supports learning and research opportunities for graduate students working in health, to bring new perspectives to their education and further their career.
