“Le Choix de Théo”
Enter the universe of Theo Brode who, like so many in Louisiana, chose to learn, speak, and preserve the language of their Cajun, Creoles and other French ancestors.
Come along to the Alliance Française Ottawa to watch an amazing documentary about French language in South-West Louisiana and the struggle to preserve an endangered heritage through immersion schools in the United States.
The director Thomas Cauvin will be there for a discussion after the screening!
He is a History professor at Colorado State University. He spent four years in Lafayette in South-West Louisiana where he worked with French-speaking communities : acadiennes, créoles, et indigènes on the preservation of their cultural and linguistic heritage.
THE MOVIE WILL BE IN FRENCH WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES
