Alliance Française Halifax organizes the French Film Rendez-Vous on May 21st, 2019 from 6pm to 10pm at the auditorium of the Museum of Natural History.

Two movies will be presented in French with English subtitles. April and the Extroardinary World (2015) directed by Franck Ekinci and Christian Desmares, will be the first movie to be screened at 6pm. In 1941, France is trapped in the nineteenth century, governed by steam and Napoleon V, where scientists vanish mysteriously. Avril, a teenage girl, is looking for her missing scientist parents with Darwin, her talking cat, and Julius. Who has been hunting scientists for decades? And what for? The graphic setting was created by Jacques Tardi, a French comics artist who is famous for being the author of The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec.

The second all ages movie is In Safe Hands (2018) by Jeanne Herry, and it will be screened at 8pm. Theo was born an unwanted child. The social services set out to find the perfect home for his adoption. In Safe Hands is the story of Alice, 41 years old, meeting Theo, three months old. It was nominated at the César Awards in six different categories.
