Christopher Carcaillet is a 2019 laureate of the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies. He will give a talk at UBC to present his research on forest fire in the Alps, and draw a comparison with the Rockies. This conference, untitled “Long-term Fire and Biodiversity Dynamics in Subalpine Forests of the Alps” will summarize 25 years of research in the French and Italian Alps.

Researcher at the Lab for Ecology of Natural and Anthropic Hydrosystems at the University of Lyon, France, he is working on the influences of climate and social processes on the pattern of plant communities or ecosystems in space and time.

This event is part of the French Scholars Lecture Series, a partnership between the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies and the Consulate General of France in Vancouver.

Christopher Carcaillet will give the same talk at UBC Campus in Vancouver on April 9.
