Research collaboration between various research groups at McMaster University and the CNRS has a long history of very transformative and productive outcomes. A recent survey has shown about 500 joint publications in many of the top international journals over the last 10 years. We have established a particularly strong collaborative record in the areas of Materials Science and Metallurgy, Pure and Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, Theoretical Chemistry, Ecology and Geosciences, Anthropology and Archeo-science, Astronomy and astrophysics, Biology and Neurosciences.

For this workshop about 20 scientists from various CNRS groups will be present along with an equivalent number of participants from McMaster University. Xavier Morise, Director of the CNRS Office for North America, will start the gathering with a review of the tools that the CNRS has built. This initiative has received strong support from the Embassy of France in Ottawa and will have representatives of the office present.

During the course of the 3 day gathering, participants and organizers will discuss possibilities to attract more resources to support the existing and emerging collaborations and provide researchers with means to maintain the high level of the collaboration and involve broader teams of researchers. For this inaugural joint workshop, 3 research fields;
