The Delegation of the European Union to Canada and the Embassies of EU Member States, in collaboration with Sparks Street Business Improvement Association, are proud to present an outdoor photo exhibit on 30 August, in celebration of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage.

The exhibit features photos of heritage sites from across EU’s 28 Member States and will be on show through 19 October. The launch gets underway on 30 August at 11:30 a.m. on Sparks Street (block three) with sampling of food and drinks, courtesy of the Embassies of EU Member States.

“Culture is increasingly recognized as a transformative force in our societies – that’s why culture has become a policy priority for the EU both at home and abroad,” said Peteris Ustubs, European Union Ambassador to Canada. “We know from experience that intercultural dialogues help build mutual understanding between societies; they connect people and promote peace, inclusion, freedom of expression and respect for human rights.”

“We are excited to partner with the Delegation of the European Union to Canada and the Embassies of EU Member to host this cultural exhibit,” said Kevin McHale, Executive Director, Sparks Street BIA and Mall Authority. “Our unique location will allow this exhibit to be seen by thousands of Ottawans and visitors from around the world.”

This year has been designated the European Year of Cultural Heritage with thousands of activities and events taking place across Europe and around the world, an occasion to appreciate the wealth and diversity of cultural heritage.
