L’impératrice (French for “The Empress”), a Parisian group of six artists, draw from various genres, ranging from 70s space disco to downtempo 90s synth pop, finding inspiration in the work of French film composers like François de Roubaix and Michel Legrand. In 2012, Charles de Boisseguin, a former culture journalist, launched a solo project which rapidly became a music band, as he was joined by Hagni Gwon on claviers, David Gaugué on the bass and Tom Daveau on the drums; singer Flore Benguigui and guitarist Achille Trocellier acted as the last two pieces of the puzzle.
Their debut album Matahari was released in 2018. Their motto: “One crown, a thousand faces.”
