Children: preparing for French immersion programs
Objective
To prepare preschool-aged children (3 to 4 years) for primary-level French immersion classes.
Focus
Familiarity with the French language through games, songs, pictures books and fun activities.
Organization
After kindergarten, in periods of maximum 90 minutes ;
Location and time to be determined depending on the needs (transportation costs for teachers may apply) ;
Rate : $20.4 per hour per student (minimum three children of equivalent level per group).
Parents: helping children with their homework
Objective
To give parents the necessary resources to extend their children’s French immersion experience into the home.
Focus
Familiarity with the French language through textbooks and authentic French documents, whilde improving students’ everyday French.
Organization
14 hours of courses per session (7 two-hour-sessions), based on the school calendar ;
Location and time to be determined depending on the needs (transportation costs for teachers may apply) ;
Rate : $198 per session per parent (minimum five participants of equivalent level per group).
Teachers: improving your level of French through ongoing education
Objective
To improve learner’s level of proficiency in French in the classroom, and to introduce them to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Focus
To know how to give advices, to correct, to encourage students in French, and to improve general proficiency in professional French, in order to feel more at ease in the classroom.
Organization
Programs to be developed based on your professional needs ;
Location and time to be determined depending on the needs (transportation costs for teachers may apply) ;
Rate : $30 per hour per person (minimum four participants of equivalent level per group).
Courses for everyone
Most Alliance française locations in Canada offer French classes for students in immersion programs throughout the year, in addition to summer camps.
