Acadie Rock is a festival produced by the Aberdeen Cultural Centre in Moncton, New
Brunswick. The event takes place annually around August 15, National Acadian Day, to celebrate Moncton’s bilingual and open identity by inviting local and international artists. Promoting multiculturalism, this festival puts Francophonies at the forefront while highlighting the beneficial nature of the cultural mosaic that defines the city. Intended for all communities in Atlantic Canada, the shows combine music, visual arts, poetry and digital arts.

The cultural services of the French Embassy in Canada have been partners of this festival for many years. In 2018, we helped the group La Dame Blanche to come to Moncton, whose Cuban singer and flutist is based in Paris, as well as Maud Geffray, French producer and member of the electronic duo Scratch Massive.

Acadie Rock comes back for its 8th edition from August 16 to 23, 2019, welcoming French electronic music producer Maxime Dangles for two electronic gatherings. At the heart of the festival, itself included in Congrès Mondial Acadien, a major event held every 5 years showcasing a modern and international Francophonie, no doubt Maxime Dangles falls perfectly into the artistic line of the event.

German label Kompakt, based in Cologne, started some kind of musical revolution in the early 2000s, embodied by a clever mix of chic and arty house and techno. Maxime was spotted by Kompakt in 2006, and was only 22 years old when he released his first EP Speicher 39 . Originally from Valence, Southern France, the artist creates a blend of melodic electro, full of upbeat, feel-good and atmospheric sweetness. His productions, thanks to a unique pop touch, seduce artists like Moby, Green Velvet, Simian Mobile Disco, Röyksopp, Oxia, Miss Kittin & the Hacker who ordered him remixes.

In the following years, the artist switched to a more incisive, dancefloor-oriented techno. He left sole computer production to build his own modular synthesizer at the end of the 2000s, attracted to sounds of old analog gear, samplers and drum machines.
Maxime Dangles played in the most popular clubs and festivals: Rex Club, Berghain,
Panorama Bar, Goa, Astropolis, Nuits Sonores, Piknic Electronik…), and will take over Acadie Rock on August 20 and 23, 2019.

Come and see his performances:
 August 20, 2019 for an electronica set, with Vinu Vinu at 11pm at the Pink Flamingos,
Moncton
 August 23, 2019, for a techno set to close the Extrême Frontière Space as part of the Acadie
Rock show, from 8pm to 1am, Moncton.
