In January 2020, the Embassy of France in Canada launched a national popular science video contest in partnership with the Youtuber Scilabus and the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers, open to Canadian students. The goal was to raise their awareness on science popularization as well as the importance of media literacy. While technology and digital technology can facilitate learning and teaching, it is important to pay attention to the veracity of content found on the Internet.

Last summer, the jury met to select the winning videos. The Grand Prize was awarded to Michaela Lee’s video “Decomposition” for her efforts at popularization. If you want to see Michaela’s work, it’s here!

We would like to thank the participants for their contributions, their creativity and were impressed by the quality of the videos of these junior science popularizers!
