The Martinican poet Véronique Kanor and the Indigenous poet from Canada Tyler Pennock have been selected to participate in a writing residency and a French-Canadian tour organised by Red Rising Magazine, the Centre for Creative Writing & Oral Culture at the University of Manitoba, the Alliance Française du Manitoba, the Maison Gabrielle Roy, the Maison de la Poésie de Nantes and the cultural services of the French Embassy in Canada.

From April 25th until May 1st 2019, the two poets will gather for one week of writing residency at the Alliance Française du Manitoba and at the Maison Gabrielle Roy (Winnipeg). A tour in Canada (Vancouver, Toronto) and in France (Paris, Angers, Nantes) will follow, with readings, public meetings and debates.

Tyler Pennock, a Cree and Métis 2-Spirits poet whose family is coming from Lesser Slave Lake in Alberta, lives in Toronto. Holder of a Bachelor in Aboriginal Studies and a Master in creative writing, he writes in numerous magazines, and will publish his first collection of poems, Bones, at Brick Books Publishing in the Spring 2020.

Véronique Kanor, a poet from Martinique who spends her time between Martinique and Guyana, is the author of Combien de solitudes published by Présence Africaine Éditions in 2013, laureate of the Prix Éthiophile 2018. Specialist of pict-dub-poetry (scenic performance with videos and texts), she is also a filmmaker and writes for the theater.
