WHO?

Ideal candidates are French start-ups working in the cultural and creative sector, particularly in the area of music and innovation. The REVERB program is designed for music industry start-ups looking for globalization opportunities and a better understanding of the North American music market.

You are a founder(s) and :

  • You are working full time on your startup
  • You have a current minimum viable product (MVP)
  • You have an innovative product and/or solution prototype
  • You have customer/market traction (anticipated revenues, beta testers, partners, etc.)
  • You are a pre-seed investor, looking to raise funds in the next 6-12 months
  • You are committed to learning, being coached and taking your company to the next level;
  • You are fluent in English.

If accepted, a maximum of 2 people from your company will be able to participate (i.e. the founder and co-founder or a director).

HOW MUCH?

  • Program costs are covered through a partnership between the French Embassy in Canada and Platform Calgary, as part of the Enterprising Culture program.
  • In this case of remote incubation, the selected companies will not have to cover their usual travel and living expenses.

WHERE? WHEN?

Virtual, online.

Sessions will take place Monday to Friday between September 27 and October 22, 2021, in the morning Calgary time (-8h from France) and can last from one hour to three hours depending on the session.

It will be imperative for participants to organize their personal schedule during the program to be available during the 4 weeks from 5pm to 8pm CET (France).

PROGRAM REVERB @ PLATFORM CALGARY

REVERB is an incubation program, set up in partnership with the National Music Centre, that helps new start-up founders build a solid foundation as an entrepreneur in North America. REVERB prepares entrepreneurs to stand out from the competition and helps them develop the tools they need to approach investors, partners and customers. Finally, it prepares entrepreneurs to take full advantage of startup gas pedals after graduation to get up and running. Selected companies will receive unparalleled access to local and national music industry players and experts.

Over the course of four weeks, founders will learn and grow within a cohort of 15 music and sound startups, working with advisors to move and grow their business further and faster. Each startup is guided by a dedicated advisor and has access to industry experts throughout the program. The rigor of working one-on-one with advisors helps you prioritize and focus on business activities, with the goal of establishing a 12-18 month growth roadmap for your company.

The program offers:

  1. Group workshops, one-on-one mentoring from industry advisors, peer learning and expert feedback on your business ;
  2. Unparalleled access to leading local, national and international organizations and a network of music industry experts;
  3. Connections to music and sound industry-specific investors;
  4. Access to events: Demo Day, Inventures and the launch of the 2021 Music Cities conference, with professional partners and investors.

Expected results

  • Gain pitching and presentation skills;
  • Validate/find a product/market fit for the North American music industry;
  • Develop a 12-18 month growth plan for your company;
  • Access a network of experts, investors and key industry players;
  • Determine your pricing and business model;
  • Define your fundraising strategy;
  • Build a data room – an organized compilation of the startup’s key documents in a secure location;
  • Acquire a solid business foundation and knowledge on how to scale up;
  • Develop and implement a network of advisors in Canada;
  • Develop leadership skills to enable you to grow with your company.
