Enterprising culture is an international business acceleration program for companies working in the cultural and creative industries. It allows French start-ups in the creative industries to discover the Canadian ecosystem and a potential expansion in the North American market.
Enterprising Culture is a program created by the Embassy of France in Canada in partnership with 2 technology hubs: Platform Calgary and Launch Academy Vancouver.
Enterprising Culture provides a complete tool kit on building a business in English-speaking Canada. With the support of our partners, we aim to create ideal conditions for French entrepreneurs to validate their product-market fit on the Canadian market and explore business opportunities in this fast-moving economy.
Enterprising Culture has been created as an alternative to existing programs that are not always accessible for companies in the cultural and creative industries. Instead of a traditional, often cost-prohibitive intensive 5-day immersion, Enterprising Culture is incubation-focused and has been designed around a longer stay for the entrepreneurs to create more opportunities and establish key relationships.
In the creative industries, companies (especially content producers) cannot always afford to participate in programs developed by diverse Trade commissions and private agencies. Enterprising Culture allows companies in the creative sector to move at their own pace, without pressure and with the support of a host institution. The program is a perfect way for early-stage start-ups and start-ups looking for partnerships and validation of concept in a foreign country to make international connection.
Through the Embassy of France partnerships, program fees are taken care of so the program itself is free to the entrepreneurs. The only cost for participating start-ups are travel and living expenses for the duration of their stay.
Thanks to our partners, selected companies will be able to discover new markets and business opportunities, and explore the possibilities of being represented in Canada.
Both Platform Calgary (our partner in Calgary, Alberta) and Launch Academy (our partner in Vancouver, British Columbia) are designated organizations of the Canadian Government’s Start-up Visa (SUV) Program (the Canadian version of the French Tech Visa).
This initiative is intended to attract foreign entrepreneurs who wish to establish new, high-growth businesses in Canada which will support innovation and job creation.
Finally, Enterprising Culture is also a great opportunity to explore starting business abroad and create commercial and economic outcomes thanks to the CETA (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) between Canada and the European Union.
For the first edition of Enterprising Culture of this new decade, French companies in the music and tech industry will have the opportunity to apply to a dedicated program focusing on music and innovation:
