Art & Science Cross-Residency « Quantum Studio »
VANCOUVER x PARIS
Initiated in 2023 by the French Embassy in Canada, “Quantum Studio” is a unique arts-science cross-residency between Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and Paris, France.
This cross-residency is aimed at artists exploring the crossover between the arts and sciences. In 2024, it has two components:
- a Canadian artist in residence in Paris in September
- a French artist in residence in Vancouver in October.
Open to all artistic practices, the residency aims to build exchanges between the arts and sciences (physics of the infinitely small / material sciences / quantum sciences) between France and Western Canada, thanks to the immersion of artists on excellent university campuses (QMI at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver and QICS at Sorbonne Université, Paris) and in conjunction with renowned art institutions (Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, Vancouver and 104, Paris). The residency will enable French and Canadian artists to expand their professional networks, create new synergies and strengthen ties between France and Western Canada.
In addition, a link between the selected artists, artistic partners and research teams participating in the residency program will be established and facilitated by the team at the Consulate General in Vancouver.
This cross-residency is part of the French Embassy in Canada’s West West residency program.
The 2024 call for applications is now open!
