Played out against the backdrop of the First World War, this thought-provoking film — starring mother and daughter Nathalie Baye and Laura Smet — explores the intricate human dramas that often unfolded far from the fields of battle. Beautifully shot against an idyllic landscape untouched by war, The Guardians is a moving look at the costs, both large and small, of the War to End All Wars. This film is in French with English subtitles.
The film screening in the Auditorium will be followed by an onstage conversation with Martin Laberge, Associate Professor, History of International Relations, Social Sciences Department at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO). Discussion in French. English simultaneous interpretation is available, if a request is made to [email protected] before October 26.
