The CNRS inaugurates its new premises in Ottawa
Historically, the scientific cooperation by the CNRS in Canada was piloted from the « North American » office, in Washington D.C. In order to build a diverse collaborative action, the CNRS first opened an antenna in Ottawa in 2019. In January 2022, a bureau was inaugurated in Ottawa, at the University of Ottawa. This new office allows the CNRS to initiate projects on the entire national territory, while facilitating exchanges with local partners and the Cultural Cooperation and Action Service of the Embassy of France in Canada.

An agreement between the CNRS and the CRSNG to coordinate the scientific cooperation between France and Canada
Canada is an essential partner for the CNRS that has a cooperation network made of institutional and educational partners, at the federal scale. For instance, almost half of the collaborative projects supported by the France Canada Research Fund are piloted by CNRS researchers since 2000.
Those exchanges are based on various existing agreements between institutions. The new agreement signed on April 21, 2022 with the CRSNG aims at consolidating and developing the CNRS’ actions on the whole Canada territory.
