The Institut français helps Canadian publishers offset the cost of acquiring the rights from books translated from French. Grant beneficiaries are selected by the Institut français in Paris. The amount awarded cannot exceed the amount of the advance that has to be paid to the French publisher for the acquisition of rights.
Canadian publishers wishing to participate and seeking a grant through this program should fill in the application form below and provide the required documents listed below.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
This is a bi-annual program. In order to be processed, applications forms should be filled in and all information should be sent by January 5th, 2018 to both of the following email addresses: [email protected] / [email protected]
Please note that the section in which information about the translator can be provided must be filled out (a few lines of CV). Any incomplete submissions will not be taken into account.
Besides, Canadian publishers have to inform French publishers in advance about their application in order to withhold the payment of the rights to wait to know if they obtain the grant. It’s not possible to apply for a book whose advance have already been paid to the French publisher.
