Testimony from one of the 2022 laureates
“On May 5th, 2022, I received the best news this summer. I had obtained a scholarship from the French Embassy in Canada together with Campus France to be part of the three-week French + Sciences program in Montpellier! Excited and nervous, I began my journey to France on the 29th of May; but little did I know this trip would go beyond my expectations.
I arrived in the vibrant Montpellier on the 30th of May 2022 and began my three-hour class the next day at Accent Français. Kley residence (my accommodation) is one of the neatest and well organised student residences I have ever seen. My first exciting culture shock was how everyone was speaking French and that surely boosted my oral fluency. I was put in the class level C2 proficiency category where we focused on expressing ourselves in discussions like native speakers. Some of the weekly themes in class included family, religion, and superstitions, with a mix of grammar from time to time. The science trips were quite enlightening as well and it was impressive to see how most citizens are striving towards living as sustainable as they can. A notable green local cooperation in Montpellier is Enercoop and they focus on being the truly green electricity supplier in France. Lastly, the excursions organised mainly by Accent Français were very informative and exciting. I got to visit Marseille and Sête and both have pleasant beaches with delicious seafood.
Obtaining this scholarship to study in France was a dream come true – and I mean that literally. This summer, I got to study, tour, and fall in love with Montpellier. I will advise everyone to apply and take this opportunity when they get it. I’m forever grateful to you French Embassy in Canada, Accent Français, and Campus France for making my dream a fulfilling reality.
P.S. The French flans are to die for. :)”
