As part of the NUMIX LAB, French and European professionals of digital creation met Canadian national museums, on May 27, 2022. This sharing of expertise should encourage future collaborations in the sector of XR (augmented reality experiences) in cultural institutions.

As part of the NUMIX LAB 2022, a French and European delegation went to Ottawa. It was composed of 40 French, Belgian, Swiss and Luxembourgian experts of digital creation. The French expertise was represented by professionals from studios, production companies (like Iconem that gives a second life to ancient cities in its exhibition Cités millénaires), cultural institutions (including the Réunion des Musées de Paris, the Musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditéranée (Mucem) or the Centquatre, Paris), but also institutional actors Centre national du Cinéma et de l’Image animée (CNC)) and broadcasters (for instance, France Télévisions).

During the day in Ottawa, the delegation first went to the Canadian Museum of Nature, then to the Canadian Museum of History, in Gatineau. Those visits and talks with the staff were the occasion to highlight the French expertise in immersive experience in public cultural places.

The event also included a reception at the Residency of the Embassy of France. These moments of exchange allowed the francophone community to meet other Canadien museums such as the Canada Science and Technology Museum and the National Gallery of Canada. Several Canadian cultural institutions were also present: Canadian Heritage, Canada Council for the Arts.
