At the Francofest Book Fair in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, with the Alliance Française d’Halifax.
In the nearly 180 years that comic strips have existed, male heroes have played the main role for the most part. It has to be said that in the crowd of comic book characters, female figures remain in the minority and very often linked to agreed stereotypes: women have their place in comics… alongside the hero, ready to support him or heal him in the event of a hard blow. Based on this observation, Lyon BD and the scriptwriter JC Deveney invited about twenty authors to imagine and produce the female representation of a comic book hero of their choice. A real reflection has thus been launched on the issue of gender in comics.
