Event Details

Stéphane Bouquet will visit Toronto from March 27th until March 29th, to attend the Printemps des Poètes French event. Key figure in French contemporary poetry, Stéphane Bouqet is the author of many volumes of poetry published in France by Champ Vallon (among them the very noteworthy Les Amours suivants, in 2013, and Vie commune, in 2016). A screenwriter and film critic, he also translated American poets including Robert Creeley and Paul Blackburn into French. Attached to strong themes such as homosexual desire, loneliness and love, his work is shaking literary genres, and gives us a reflection full of sensibility and engagement about today’s society. Cité de paroles, his last book published by José Corti, will be out on the 5th of April. His work is now being translated into English (one of which has won the French Voices Award 2017). Stéphane also appeared in the recent anthology Writing the real : a bilingual anthology of contemporary French poetry, directed by Enitharmon Press in 2016.
