With the snowmelt runoff, the arrival of beautiful weather, and the emergence of marmots from hibernation; the literary life has started to blossom again. Many online events took place this spring. Here’s a quick recap:

  • On April 20, the Gatineau Literary Arts House opened its doors for the season. Among the events programmed, you will be able to participate in a film and literature evenings as well as in various literary talks.
  • From April 16 to 25, the 22nd edition of the Frye Festival was held. This major literary festival celebrates bilingual books every year. Invited to the round table on the theme “She in Deconstruction“, the festival had the chance to welcome authors Amber Dawn, Francesca Ekwuyasi, Sophie Létourneau and Mirion Malle. If you missed the event, the videos remain available on their YouTube channel until March 2022.
  • From May 8 to 15, Toronto hosted a new edition of the TCAF-Toronto Comic Arts Festival with large panel of discussions on various themes such as “Polar? It’s elementary! ” or “Body Image in Comics” with French comic book artist Héloïse Chochois. Once again, in case you missed the events, go to the TCAF’s You Tube channel.
  • From May 14 to 30, you may have had the chance to attend the New Brunswick Virtual Comic Book Artist Residency events with guests Laura K. Watson, Camille Perron-Corme and two French artists Elizabeth Holleville and Karensac.
  • On May 27, on the occasion of the Five Continents Award, a pre-recorded interview with author Beata Umubyeyi Mairesse on her book Tous tes enfants dispersés was broadcasted. If you are interested in Afro-Caribbean readings, the author wrote her list of her recommandations.

  1.  The call for entries for the third edition of the Salon du Livre en Outaouais on Fantastic Realism which will close on July 29.
  2. The launch of the fourth edition of the Prix Albertine Jeunesse for AEFE schools. The registration will begin in September.
